Swedish labor organizations LO, TCO, and Saco, together with Finland’s SAK and STTK, have published an open letter in which they address the views of their countries’ prime ministers on Europe’s competitiveness. The letter is addressed to Professor Draghi, who is currently preparing a report for the European Commission on the EU’s competitiveness. The letter contains the labor organizations’ response to a letter sent by Finnish and Swedish Prime Ministers Orpo and Kristersson in January.

The trade unions support the views presented by their governments in many respects but also emphasize the need to include several important elements in the discussion, which are considered essential for building competitive and inclusive societies. In particular, they highlight the importance of social dialogue and collective bargaining, which have been a fundamental part of the Nordic models and have significantly contributed to the region’s competitiveness.
